The 22nd amendment to the Constitution reads as follows;
“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of president, or acted as president, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”
This statement clearly indicates that if Trump waits until January 20th 2023 to retake the office he will then be eligible to rerun for election in 2024.
Obviously the most convincing argument against this happening would be (if the audits indeed prove corruption) not in fact Trump was already elected twice.
But is justice served if he doesn’t get his full four-year term? It will be interesting to watch this unfold.
